Singapore is often a city disregarded by the ‘young free and single’ recruitment professional, predominantly by those who haven’t spent much time there, and seemingly so due to its’ (perceived) ‘stale’ atmosphere. Rather, it is fair to say that Singapore has a very high standard of living, it has a politically stable environment and is viewed as an extremely ‘safe’ place for people to live. Consequently Singapore is the location of choice for many families looking to relocate to Asia and our experience shows that those who do relocate have definitely never looked back.
If one takes the time to look beyond the skyscrapers and the pristine streets and there is definitely enough nightlife to satisfy the most ardent bar hopper or night-clubber.
It is estimated that about one in four skilled workers in Singapore comes from overseas with the recruitment and resourcing industry, in reality, being much higher than that.
English is a widely spoken language in Singapore thus making it a much easier transition for English speaking recruitment professionals to operate across a variety of the traditional industry sectors.
This is a main difference to Hong Kong where it is primarily the banking and finance sector which has English as the common language.
Recruitment fee levels are comparatively high, experienced recruiters always highly sought after by our client base, and there are always good opportunities for experienced managers.
The income tax rates are attractively low, between 15% for the majority of income earners and up to 20% at the top end.
