We all need to keep moving forward and Hemisphere
Consulting is no different. It’s
hardly a revelation, but there is a typical career path that many of our clients
and candidates have taken which is that of a recruiter progressing to internal
recruitment and ultimately broadening their skill set to become an HR
professional.
It was obvious, then, that at some point Hemisphere should
consider moving into the HR space. Obvious, but not without a lot of thought and planning.
Before we could enter the HR arena we wanted to ensure
we had something substantial to offer with regards to specialist market
knowledge and be confident that we could provide the same level of service and
expertise to HR clients and candidates as we do for our existing recruitment contacts.
Timing, as they say, is everything.
James McConochie had been recruiting for more than
ten years. He worked for Michael
Page in London for several years before returning to his native Australia in
2004. He followed a familiar but
trusted path as he honed his skills and progressed through Hudson and Michael
Page where he most recently headed up the HR division. He too was ready for the next challenge.
So, the timing was right. Hemisphere HR is now officially launched and providing
recruitment services to the Human Resources / Corporate Recruitment Heads whom we
have worked with previously offering
them career opportunities of their own.
As our way of introducing James, we thought we should
tell you a little bit about James that you may not have known until now…
1)
James not only went
to a Garth Brooks concert in 1994 but he liked it!
2)
If recruitment hadn’t
worked out so well for James he would have liked to operate really heavy
machinery for a living instead
3)
James does not have
a spleen (spleen not brain)
4)
James’ all time favourite
film: obviously – “Top Gun” (er, did anyone tell me this before he joined? –
Tony)
5)
All time favourite song:
refer to 1) – “The River”
James is standing
by to discuss any of the above, particularly his dubious music and film choices,
or to assist with any HR recruitment enquiries you may have.
