If only I had a dollar for every time I’m
asked “Got any interesting roles/candidates on your books?” Thankfully, we don’t have a vast ledger
of ‘open’ positions that we try to fill, nor do we stockpile great recruiters
without representing them to our clients if we think that a firm would offer
them a great career move. If we did, I’d really need that dollar.
Like the majority of us in recruitment, it’s
a rare day that the planets align and we get a call from a client and a call
from a candidate with the right combination of skills and competencies on the
same day. Yes, some days
recruitment is fast but, in my experience at least, career moves don’t happen
over night. Like any other career,
recruitment is a strategic game and one which should be thought through and
played well. All too often we get
calls from recruiters knee jerking from a bad quarter or a bad day and they’re
ready to blow the whistle.
If you’re serious about turning a new page
of your career, you should be talking to us today about moving forward
‘tomorrow’. It has taken time to
hone your skills and learn the intricacies of recruitment so it stands to
reason that it is also worth taking some time to explore your own options. One man’s ‘interesting role’ is another
man’s road to boredom.
So no. We don’t have a mythical book filled with interesting roles
you can flick through on the shelf.
But we do have the time and the inclination to sit down to discuss the
sort of company you’d like to work for and the type of recruitment that excites
you. More importantly, we can help you write your own next chapter and given
time, make it a reality.
