Well, I don’t
know about you but I’m confused.
In every publication I pick up, every news story sent to my inbox and
every segment on the high brow breakfast news I view whilst munching my fruitloops
I am told that Australia is struggling.
Super funds are desperate, shares are floundering and the housing market
has got rigor mortis. Apparently
Australians have no faith in the economy and are battening down the hatches in
preparation for the recession that must surely come.
Forgive my
ignorance, but didn’t we just leave the GFC as one of the most affluent and
successful economies in the world? As recruiters and recruiters of recruiters aren’t we at the coalface, so
to speak, of whether or not this country is in decline or moving forward?
Many of you are
aware I just returned from Europe and I can vouch for the fact that Europe
still has a long path to recovery but, riots aside, they are at least on
track. Australia is looking
fantastic compared to Europe and the US and if we continue to capitalize on our
relationship with Asia we are beautifully positioned to ride out these latest
financial storms with minimal long-term damage.
Real opportunities
exist for recruiters with the stomach for a fight. Our clients in Hong Kong,
China and Singapore have revealed just how hard they are finding it to source
recruiters ready to face the challenge of cultural change and booming, young
markets. There is a healthy appetite for leadership roles and senior management
in Asia that is unparalleled here in Australia. Many international and UK
backed recruitment firms are in a growth phase that they cannot sustain without
new hires. If you’ve ever thirsted
for new adventure and fresh frontiers – now is the time to do it!
